Vermont Association of Regional Partnerships (VARP) Sustainability Planning Meeting

Convener: VARP Leadership Team
Audience: Coordinators from Vermont's 12 Regional Partnerships
Purpose: A day long meeting to explore and examine different ways to catalyze new approaches to their work and resource acquisition. In other words, “How can we sustain ourselves?” Some of the key objectives of the meeting were to:
  • Honor the 12 year history and accomplishments of Regional Partnerships.
  • Examine existing strengths and how they position VARP to move to the next stage of organizational maturity.
  • Address the multi-layered question of what they want to sustain: themselves, their partnerships or the communities they serve.
  • Generate a number of ideas that could catalyze new approached to their work and funding.
  • Use the synergy of the group to develop ideas into proposals and to grasp the implications and work involved with these new directions.
Outcomes: Participants developed a holistic view of sustainability in their work by setting an intention to incorporate economic and environmental concerns into their already valued work with the social issues in their communities. A number of intriguing proposals were developed that will stimulate new partnerships and expanded approaches to community sustainability issues.

Holistic Leadership: Achieving Results through Expanded Awareness

Event: 2007 Women’s Leadership Conference: Leading with Passion and Purpose

Jeraldene Cole-Lovell, Intuitive Intelligence Training
Audience: Leaders and managers of local businesses, nonprofits government and educational organizations
Purpose: A holistic leader is a) conscious of multiple dimensions of self: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual; and b) on multiple levels of human activity: individual, interpersonal, organizational, community, and global. This presentation links the art of awareness with leadership effectiveness. Participants will develop:
  • An ability to recognize and trust their intuition as a valuable source of information
  • A deeper awareness of visible and invisible patterns of human interaction.
  • An awareness of complex influences that impact the quality of interaction needed to get things done.
  • Using holistic frameworks for seeing the big picture and thinking through critical short and long-term implications of decisions and actions.
Outcomes: Participants will take away new perspectives for dealing with their current challenges at work, and in all aspects of their lives.

  • Richer understanding of the human dynamics of individual & organizational change
  • Resourced with most current sustainability tools available
  • Theory experienced in action with local service learning project
  • A developed sense of own personal leadership styles

Purpose: Bring Community Catalyst organizations and their Change Partners together to explore their findings, experiences and questions regarding their engagement processes with each other and their target communities.

  • New ideas to improve your organization's engagement efforts
  • Richer understanding of your role in building leadership capacity in target communities
  • Improved relationships with your Change Partners
  • Larger connection of Community Catalyst organizations for networking needs
